Children's Corner Brings Joy to Day 4 of the Shillong Book Fair

The Shillong Book Fair's fourth day featured an invigorating session at the children's corner, lifting the morning atmosphere at the fair. The musical storytelling event by Vasudha Ahuja, accompanied by guitarist Kunal Shandilya, was a huge hit among over 500 students from 14 schools, with all the children in the auditorium joining in the singing.
Dalajingkmen Lyngdoh, a student at Mawngap District Christian Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, expressed her excitement at witnessing musical storytelling for the first time and understanding the Hindi songs. The children's session continued with a portrait-making workshop led by artist Arni Sarkar, an alumnus of Visva Bharati, Shantiniketan, who is a Delhi-based art practitioner.
An orientation session on Rashtriya e-Pustakalaya, a regular feature at the book fair, was also conducted. The musical evening featured captivating performances by Pynter Orchestra Group and Kupar Shadap's band. The upcoming session will kick off with folk dance and song performances by choir groups from schools.
Additionally, children will have the opportunity to learn puppet-making techniques in the following session. For the city's literary enthusiasts, there will be a book discussion on "Basketry: Everyday Art of North-East India." Visitors can look forward to an energetic musical evening with a drum ensemble by the Really Lyngskor band and a performance by the renowned Summersalt band.
